Just a couple completely unrelated things....
But I am still making steady progress on the Bible study, don't worry.
Then, I have a question for all you Sitemeter people: How do I tell who googled me and everything? And where people live? I signed up and all it tells me is how many people visit my blog.
Speaking of which, I appear to have more people than I realized. Unless people are simply compulsively checking my blog. So, umm... hi everyone!! Do I know you all? Or do strangers think I am witty? I didn't think I was as witty to interest people I don't know....

I got it!!!
So today I was browsing a boutique on White Avenue with my client and I got a phone call from one of the instructors.
I got the field placement I wanted! It is at (an anomynous) high school, basically as a guidance and career counsellor. I am so super excited. It was my absolute number one choice, and I got it.
Too bad I have to wait four months to start....
Edit, Months later: Too bad it sucked.

School's Out For Summer
I have two interviews tomorrow- on at The Gap and the other at PJs Pets. I turned down a job at Bryan's today. I just felt like it was a place where I would not be comfortable, and that it wouldn't be good for my self esteem. Tomorrow I also have my first session with my personal trainer at the gym. Today I also worked on May Long stuff. If you are reading this and have not registered for May Long yet, e-mail me and let me know what your plans are for it!!!
So even though I am out of school, I am not completely useless. Just poor.

I cannot resist these things...
My name is: Jen
I may seem: cold and reserved
People who know me think: that I am funny and slightly insane (in a good way, of course)
If you knew me you’d probably: also be slightly insane
My days are pretty: mediocore- hectic and dull at the same time. It is punctuatesd by long naps on the bus.
Yesterday: was Tuesday. What did I do? Oh, yes, I went to West Ed after practicum, and then walked.
In the morning I: Get up. Which bites.
I like to sleep: on the bus
If I could be doing anything right now I would be: dressed to kill, flirting with a boy. But since that is unlikely to happen, I'll settle for blogging.
Money: Would be nice to have some...
One thing I don’t have that I wish I did is: artistic talent
One thing I have that I wish I didn’t is: a zit.
All you need is: love. love. love.....
All I need is: for all these responsibilities to be over.
If I had one wish it would be: to... ummm... I know what I'd like to wish for, but that would be bad for me... let's say... contentment. or to have someone come over and invite me over to hang out. My door is open, people!!
If I could see one person right now it would be: I really don't know.
Something I want but I don’t really need is: a boyfriend
I live for: Is there really a right answer to this question?
I am afraid of: mice
It makes me angry when: people pick on others who are more vulnerable than them
I dream about: I don't remember
I daydream about: utopias- not world peace- personal utopias.

Best Fashion Statement Ever
- A ladies leapord print hat
- Athletic looking sunglasses
- A Hawaiin print shirt
- Sporty looking track pants
- Cowboy boots
- And the clincher: Around each boot he had tied a string. Dangling from the strings was bunches and bunches of ladies beaded necklaces, so they jangled when he walked!
It was priceless. I wish I'd had a camera. If I was 60 years older, I would have been flirting.

My to do list
It was depressing.
There are THIRTY EIGHT items on it. They all have to be done before Saryn's wedding. Many have to be done by Wednesday.
Although, I can cross one thing off... I just finished my paper that was due Wednesday and e-mailed it away.
Two more papers to write before Wednesday. Both of them already have special extentions.
Eeeeek!!!!

Birthday
Yesterday, I slept in, had a bath, and lazed around. I hung out with the guys who were making wings for the guys night, then went to girls night where we had fondue. They had even made me fancy brownies with Happy Birthday Jen signs in them.
The a couple of younger girls stayed over at my place last night, so we had a slumber party. It was lots of fun- we played scenerios- a jr. high type game where you make up situations about someone with their crush and then they say what they would do. It was actually very fun. I love talking about boys, even if I didn't know the guys they liked, and they didn't know mine. We were in two different age brackets.
Whooohoooo!!! I am 20!
or
Gasp! I am twenty! My teen years are GONE! Where did time go??

Tonight I am just spitting out my feelings
WARNING: DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THE FEELINGS AND ISSUES OF BEING A SINGLE WOMAN. IF YOUR NAME IS CALEB RALPH JOHNSON, YOU WILL LIKELY BECOME RATHER UNCOMFORTABLE. But if you are genuinely interested, and won't hold what I say against me, please, read on!
I am lonely. I mean, it sounds horrible to say, as I am surrounded by people, and my roommate is my best friend, and I as great as that is, I am still lonely. I mean, as much as I hate sounding like some simply, clinging girl, I really would love to have a guy right now. And at the same time, I KNOW how hurt a girl can get because of a guy, and how much trouble they can be, and how they NEVER will be able to say the perfect thing, or do the perfect thing, to make me feel better, because they are human, but I just can't get the picture of a fairy tale romance out of my head. But I also know that I can't let my self esteem, and my happiness, depend on some guy because when they fail (and they will, because they are human), that would wreck me. And I can't make myself that vulnerable, AND I can't put that responsiblitity on a guy, because that is not his place. Theoretically, it all makes sense. Theoretically, I know that my source of self-esteem and confidence has to come from God, and not a human realtionship. But it is so hard for my heart and emotions to learn what my brain already knows.
It seems that wherever I go, I am surrounded by happy couples. You know what? There are no single people in my class. Everyone has a boyfriend (the few guys that there are have girlfriends.) I come home, and I am surrounded by happy couples, where everything is going great for them, and it seems as though life IS a fairytale romance for them. They are constantly enjoying the others presence- always holding hands, standing close to one another, cooking each other meals, encouraging the other, snuggling together. Don't get me wrong, I am SO happy for them. They are so cute together. But it makes me sad that I don't have that too.
So how do I deal with that? This is where I get stupid. I miss that physical touch- so lately I have realized that I am tending to deliberately, just barely, brush some single guys that live around here. Like, if a bunch of us are watching a movie, I'll sit close just to feel a guys leg next to mine. Or if a bunch of us are lounging on a couch, I'll put my foot just close enough to brush that guy's knee. And it is not like I even really really like the guy- I am just using his presence to comfort myself, and make me feel better. And that is what makes me stupid.
I worry that I'll trick myself. I've done it before- I've managed to let my imagination run away with me, and create a situation in my head that wasn't really there. No, I am not a scitz. But I don't want to trick myself, or make a fool of myself again. I hate feeling stupid, and I don't want to make others uncomfortable around me.
Another thing that makes me sad is just the fact that nobody likes me. Well, no. People like me because I'm a nice person. I just mean that nobody like likes me. No one thinks I'm particularly pretty. No one does special things for just me. No one seeks out my presense just because I make them smile. No one notices me just because I am me.
And that make me wonder: What is wrong with me? Am I unlikable? Do I give off vibes that tell guys to just go away? Is it cuz I am not pretty? Is it cuz I am not funny, not witty, not charming, not flirty? Is it because I am too childish? Am I wierd? What is wrong with me?
And then I remind myself that the man that God has picked out for me is out there somewhere. And that when I do meet him and start to date him, then I'll be glad that I haven't dated other guys. I remind myself that I should make the most out of the time when I am single, and become the best person I can be.
Then I question my motives. Do I want to be a successful single so that I can attract a man? Am I trying to be content with my current singleness, knowing that later I'll have a man in my life? What if I never get married? Shouldn't my satisfaction with singleness come from God, not hoping that later I'll start my 'real' life as a couple? Shouldn't my focus be on God?
Thanks for reading. I realized that it was rather personal, but then I realized that it seems to voice how many single women must feel, so I'll post it as a tribute to all of us. Please don't think poorly of me after reading this. I am not desperate, I am not crazy, it is just that sometimes I get lonely. This isn't meant as an advertisement. It is just meant as an expression of what I am feeling, and maybe it'll help another single woman out there too. It is nice to know that we aren't alone in how we feel.
Wow, spitting out feelings does help. I highly recommend it.

I keep meaning to do this
Oh well, I shall just make do with what I have. Last night, Rebekah, Bryce, Grant, and I played Settlers, and Rebekah won. Which means Grant lost! And Bryce! Those two never ever lose! Yay Rebekah!
I came in second. Which means I didn't lose.
Today I led a session in the group at my work experience place. Unfortuately, it was a bit short, as I was anticipating more conversation than was actually present. But that was all right, cuz then they did their computer time too, so it all worked out.
Ooh! Super good news! I hadn't realixed that my anthro final exam was scheduled for the exact same time as Saryn's wedding. I mean, who schedules exams for a Saturday? Anyways, I would have had to miss the wedding. But yesterday I asked my teacher if we could work something out, and she was totally OK with it!! So I get to go.
That is what I get for attending college rather than university. :)

Is this why I haven't had a boyfriend?
You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish
You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes. You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them. You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be.
I tried to go to school
We dropped him off in St Albert, and then we turned south to go to school. Normally this drive takes 45 minutes.
An hour later, we had completed a normal distance of 15 minutes of our trip. We were already ridiculously late, and it would take us at least another hour to get there, so...
We gave up, went home, and tried to be productive there.
Winter has arrived in Edmonton! Horray!

All done and plans and a grand adventure
Highlights of Reading Week will include:
- Today: young peoples. Peter and Kelly have prepared something on relationships.
- Tomorrow: Church
- Tuesday: Going to Sherwood Park for a Criminal Record Check, and then giving it to my boss. I can then arrange when to start working. I spent two hours there yesterday for orientation. (Neat fact: The office for my work is just around the corner from this fantastic teashop, called Steepes. Maryanne, you would love it, I'm sure.)
- Next weekend: Going to Saskatoon for my grandparent's 50th anniversary bash. Oooh, I should check to see what YPs will be out there.
- In the middle: This is undecided. I may start working, or I may go home for a couple days. In that case, I want to visit a few friends.
Last night, Grant, Nathan, Dan, Carla, Rebekah, and I were hanging around and decided to go to Steepes. Except that we decided to be adventurous and take the bus, instead of driving. So, with me being the navigator, we went down there and had a fair bit of fun. We took some really funny pictures. Then, it was time to go home, but we had just missed our bus by a minute and a half. It was very sad. The next bus didn't come for an hour, so most of us (not Grant and Dan) decided to hoof it. We were about halfway home when Grant and Dan pulled up in a taxivan, so we all hopped in. And that was our grand adventure.

Valentines Day
The we went out and drove around Glenora, where all the ritzy houses are overlooking the river and admired them for a while.
So all in all it was rather fun. Who needs a boyfriend on Valentine's Day when you have friends to hang out with?
Actually, I don't believe that myself. But it was worth a try.
Oooh, and I got my invite to Saryn and Dan's wedding yesterday. Yay!
Back to homework.

I am falling behind....
To put is mildly, "Eeek!"
So, you may ask why I am blogging instead of working.
Good question. I don't know myself.

Procrastination 101... This one's for you, Maryanne
"Well," thought I, "this will be fun!" So I googled procrastination, and came up with lots of stuff. Admittedly, some of it was boring, but there was some fantastic (abiet procrastination encouragers rather than procrastination defeaters) stuff. Some of the award winners (in no particular order) are as follows:
- A cute little article by a philosophy instructor on the wonders of procrastination.
http://www-csli.stanford.edu/~john/procrastination.html
- Procrastination and You, which includes a test to measure your procrastination, quotes on procrastination, suggestions for fun ways to procrastinate, and some other stuff. My test results are as follows:
75 out of a possible 100
You rank between the top 25% and 10% in terms of
procrastination. That is, when it comes to putting things off, you often do so
even though you know you shouldn’t. Likely, you are more free-spirited and
spontaneous than most. Probably, your work doesn’t engage you as much as you
would like or perhaps you are surrounded by easily available and more pleasant
temptations. These temptations may initially seem rewarding, but in the
longer-term, you see many of them as time-wasters. Though you likely often still
get your work done, there is probably a lot of last minute panicking and
unwanted stress. You may want to reduce what procrastination you do commit.
http://www.ucalgary.ca/~steel/procrastinus/
- A rather theoratical article about procrastination, that, while admittedly not the wittiest thing you will ever read in your life, has some interesting ideas on the different types of procrastinators out there.
http://www.paulgraham.com/paulgraham/procrastination.html
- And then, of course, how can I write a discorse on procrastination without directing you to The Queen of West Procrastination?

Quickie
I have not been doing much this week, just the bare minimum, so I was very proud of myself today. I caught up on my Family Processes Reading- 2 booklets and 1 book. I also did the dishes, showered, and fit a nice long nap into there. Sigh... naps are beautiful.
I am wearing: brown felt-yish pants, belt, and red t-shirt. Actually, that is all Boxing Day shopping items.
Ooops, time to go.

5 Wierd or Unusual Things about Jen (AKA, me)
1. Whenever my cell phone rings, I think it has a perfect dancing tune, so I waltz towards my phone. In addition, I actually do not know how to waltz.
2. I cannot stand listening to, or have others listening to me, doing their thing in the bathroom. I will always hit the blow drier, and, in cases of a #2, have been known to sit in the stall waiting for the other person in the bathroom to leave so I can complete my business.
3. I enjoy whooping/ cheering. A good "WHOOOOHOOOO!!!!!" is an excellent cheering up method.
4. I have been known to sniff people's shoes when others were wondering if thyey smelled or not. (Incidentally, they didn't smell that bad.)
5.I only like pink nail polish. And only on my toes. I have no idea why I dislike other colors.
I tag Rebekah, Shannon, Stephen, Liam, and Caleb.

So instead I am bored. There is no movies, books, or TV I want to see. I have phoned some people, but am done that. So, instead, I blog it out, hoping to keep some connection to the world.
Sigh. Hmmm... I think the 70s Show comes on at 9. That could be fun.....

The Coolest New Things... For Me, Anyway...
So I was waiting for the bus, and my feet were killing me.... I walked about 50 blocks today in heels. So I made up a song (First coolest new thing). It goes to the tune of Old Smokey.
"On top of these shoes
All covered in boils,
I was waiting
For the 125.
But the bus never came,
And I got gangrene.
And now my feet
Are nothing but green."
The second coolest new thing is what I did to my computer. The sceensaver is now a powerpoint presentation of all of the photos on the computer. So last night, I turned the wait time to one minute, and we watched a slideshow. It was great. While Rebekah slaughtered me at croquanol. (How do you spell it anyway? Ky, do you know?)
You all should try it.

Yay!
I got a job interview!!!
I have an interview as a youth worker Thursday at 11. I'm really excited, and rather nervous as well, since I have never had what I would call a real job interview. Usually, I have always just had the job. So tommorrow I will prepare for it.
It would be really great if everyone could remember to pray for me then, that it would go well, and God's will would be done.
Home Again
This is just a quick note to let all of you who I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to that I am sorry. My ride home informed me at breakfast that I had 20 minutes to pack, and then we left super fast. So, I love you all, and I'll see you later!

Rambling
Ummm... what to write..... Let's see, earlier I posted some blogging ideas... what were they.... Oh. I really have posted too many surveys. They are off the main page. Wow. I haven't gone through a page that fast yet. Hmmm..... none of them were that interesting- either that, or I already did that.
Well, today I.... ran out of the house really fast this morning so I could catch the bus, as opposed to walking in the cold, and accidentally left my bus pass, Bible and keys behind. So I ended up having to pay for my bus ride, and get the keys from my manager.... I nearly left my cell phone behind too; luckily, my roomie gave it to me as I was leaving.
I went Christmas carolling last night for young people's, and it was SUPER COLD!!!!!!!! Brrr...... It was nice, though. It was Christmasy.
Wow. I am being snarky to an old friend of mine on MSN. She deserves it though. Honestly, some people..... Growl. All I ask for is a little respect, and all I get is..... Hurrumph.
Well, sorry for leaving on such a downer..... Toodles.

What would you do for a living? I would hopefully be a social worker, but possibly not, as there are so few male social workers.... I may have been a teacher... well, in either case, I'd still be a student.
Would you be married? Not yet. Still too young.
What kind of woman would you like to take for a date? Ummmm..... intelligent, compasionate, funny,....
What would you miss the most of womanhood? I would miss being able to wear a dress. Amung other things, but that was the first thing that popped into my head. But I love men's clothing, so I'd still have fun with that.
Male bloggers:
If you were a she, what would be your name?
Would you like to wear dresses and make-up, or would you stay “natural”?
What would be your hobbies?
What kind of man would you like to date?
What would you hate from being a woman?

Hotmail Died
Should I post about the lengthy list of end-of-term assignments that I am steadily (and sometimes not so steadily) working on paring down? Should I post about my theories about what I affectionately call "the vibe", "my muse", or "inspiration"? Should I post about my to do list for the day? Should I post my rant that I didn't know I had about residental schools? Should I post, for that matter, small segments of my essays that may, to the outside world, be interesting? Should I post my Christamas wish list? Should I post a list of movies I want to see?
So many decisions, so little time...
What I am wearing: blue jeans, black t-shirt with laces, and off white cardigan.
Instead, I think, I will post about nothing.

Snores and Craziness....
I do not as of yet have a bed frame, so I sleep with my matress on the floor. Unfortunately, the person in the apartment below me snores like mad. The first couple times it was funny- Rebekah and I got a good case of the giggles. But now it is starting to get more annoying.
So I was really sleepy this morning. I dragged myself out of bed and had breakfast. I got dressed. I made lunch. I ate lunch. Wait a second... I ate lunch?
That's right. I made myself a bagged lunch this morning, and before I realized what I was doing, I had sat down and ate it. I was on the second last bite when it dawned on me what I had just done. Then, there was no more time to make another lunch before the bus, so now I must go to Safeway and buy food.

15 Pages!
But I have never written anything that long before in my life. Ever.
Coincidentally, the major portion of that 15 pages was written yesterday. I got at the college at 11:30, and didn't leave until I had finished and dropped off my assignment at 7:30. It was a long day. However, the nice thing is that I don't have anything else to work on until after I get back from Pinelow.
Hopefully, there won't be snow there. We now have snow here.

Yay for scientific accuracy
So, anyway, we were supposed to foister this on an innocent child, ask them questions, and write it up as a scientific experiment. And we have to make up our own research question and hypothises. My problem is the person I was going to get to help me after church on Sunday had to leave really suddenly, before we could sit down to do it. And I'm not going to see another child until it will be overdue.
So where does this leave me? You guessed it. I am making up the results of the experiment.
Sad, isn't it?

I was a slacker today...
Well, it was decision time. What should I do? My choices were:
1. Run out the door without breakfast and make the bus in time for my 8AM class.
2. Get up, and at a normal pace, get ready for school, and show up to English 15 minutes late.
3. Go back to bed until I woke up, as long as I made it in time for my psych quiz.
I chose option 3. What can I say? Sleep is beautiful.
So I got up at 9:15, had a nice leisurely breakfast, and headed to school. I arrived in English at 10. Unfortunately, the part I had hoped to miss (Going over the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper") they only started on when I arrived, so that was disappointing.
On the plus side, I was in a lovely mood all day, and feel well refreshed.

For the sake of posting...
In other news.... nothing. I honestly have nothing interesting to take note of. However, I will say... What should I have for supper?

Yay for looking like an idiot!
Last night I discovered I lost the address. So I came down here this morning anyway, and as soon as the office opened, I called to ask for the address.
No one in the office knew it. Or even had an inkling of where it might be. The people Iam supposed to meet don't have cell phones.
So now I am in the downtown library, waiting til close to lunch, when I will go to the office and meet up with my supervisor after the conferance. If I get bored, I may go explore a mall I found tucked away down here.
How humilating.
Later: After I left the library, I went to the indoor mall I discovered and bought a really cute t-shirt on sale for 6 bucks. Shopping really does help.

Heartthrobs and napping...
| Your 80s Heartthrob Is |
Now to look him up to find out who he is...
Hmmm... never see any of his movies, but he aged well.
So I got home from job placement today, thoughly exhausted, and went straight to bed for a nap. I woke up after midnight, having had more sleep than the night before already, but with a paper to finish. I suppose I'd better get cracking...

I hibernated for two days...
Yup, only a few short hours after A Breath Of Snow and Ashes came out, I owned it. I must have been one of the first done it. It was so, so, so good!
However...
Now come the consequences.
I have done no homework. It is overtaking me! Aaaahhh!!!! Run!!!!! It's the homework bomb!!!!
I rally ought to get to it- but I have done a fair bit today. I went throuh a big list of jobs at placement- programing, ect., I went to see Jamie's basketball game (which she won, yay Jamie!), I cleaned my room, and am starting my laundry.
See? I'm not that bad. Now to attack the homework bomb...

The Meme Theme...
Hot chocolate, tea, coffee, most seafood, most raw vegetables, any and all Lord of the Rings, Hanging out in large crowds, likely more
Things I like that I know I shouldn't:
That 70s Show, romance novels, Christian rock, spending hours on MSN, McChicken meals, likely more
P.S.- Has anyone from Saskatoon heard of the possibility of you all and Calgary coming to Edmonton for Halloween? Us Edmontonians are confused.
Saturday, September 24, 2005
Guess What?
If any of you have seen my MSN name lately you may have a clue.
I'm getting a roommate!
That's right. My lonely existance, at home, holed up in my room, all the time, has a light at the end of the tunnel.
Rebekah is moving to Edmonton! We'll be roomies.
Not in the same place I have now, though. We'll get a new place.
It'll be so much fun!

Wheee!!!
I have been waiting for this book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0385324162/qid=1127511508/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-7094930-0691336?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 for forever! And guess what? It comes out on Tuesday!!!
Wooohooo!!
That is right, everyone. Diana Gabaldon's latest, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, comes out on Tuesday. And even though I have no time to read it, and little money to buy it with, I WILL buy it. On Tuesday. And I will read it, too.
Of course, that is precisely why I should get to work. I won't have time to do the assignment next week...

Not sure of Number- to Mall, dropped off library books.
65- Went home via school.
64- Went back to the school to get onto bus
8- to go for my interview on the other side of town. Got off in close to my place because I got a call, cancelling the interview. Ran for bus

Is There a Princess of Procrastination?
Things I am currently procrastinating from:
- Lunch- I am too lazy to go to the kitchen, and I am already in that slightly fuzzy stage that tells me I have to eat.
- Studying- I got tired of thinking about ethics. What can I say?
- Taking care of those KD leftovers- In fact, now I even have Sidekicks Pasta leftovers, half a jar of peaches, 3/4 a jar of saskatoons, and... I think that's it.
- Going to the bank- I need to activate my new ATM card so I can...
- Buy envelopes- so I can mail a letter.
- Taking out my gabage- Not too much more will fit into it. (Or the kitchen one either. I guess I'll have to take care of it, even though officially it isn't my responsibility.)
- Laundry- I'll likely run out of clothes again before I do it.
- And I'm certian there is more....

Jen's Adventures in Cooking
So, I took the ham steak out of the freezer and defrosted it. I got out the trusty KD and then realized my 2- burner stove would be a bit crowded with a pot and a frying pan, so I decided to do it microwave style.
I really got into puttering around my kitchen. I even opened a big juice jug to be extra special. I set the table, all the while, following my directions ever-so-carefully.
The end result?
It left much to be desired. My steak hadn't defrosted properly, so it was tough in the middle, plus I had had the heat on too high, and scalded it. A word to the wise: Don't nuke KD. It was hard and tough and chewy, unlike the normal wonderful stovetop method.
So, I ate it. Unfortunately, I still have half the KD as leftovers, which I am too frugal to throw away. Perhaps, tomorrow night, I should make something nice to go with my leftovers.
I also took a break from studying today (well, I did study too, just not a lot). I read a cute little Love Inspired book, and really enjoyed myself. The break from the textbook was nice.
I am wearing: my flannel purple PJ pants with snowmen on them, my pink shirt (still on from church), a dove necklace, a white, blue, and pink cardigen, black socks, and blue slippers.
Tomorrow I am planning to: Go to my sociology class, demand to find out what my placement is, visit David in the hospital by my house, take back a library book, buy milk, possibly see my mom and grandpa, and study.
Yay! Q's!
The quality you most like in a man? I like gentlemen.
The quality you most like in a woman? I like people who look for the good in people and who can laugh at themselves.
What do you most value in your friends? Goodness, this is like class, being asked hard questions all the time. I value each one's uniqueness.
What is your principle defect? My crooked arm. (I took that one physically too.)
What is your favorite occupation? Social work, of course. (That one was easy.)
What is your dream of happiness? This one is harder... I don't know.
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes? To lose your entire family in a car accident, or fire, or something.
What would you like to be? Why not what I am?
In what country would you like to live? CANADA!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!
What is your favorite color? orange.
What is your favorite flower? I really don't have one.
What is your favorite bird? Once again, I don't know.
Who are your favorite prose writers? Diana Gabaldon. (That was another easy one.)
Who are your favorite poets? I dislike poetry.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? Jamie Fraser
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction? Elastigirl
Who are your favorite composers? The only one I personally know- Lane.
Who are your favorite painters? kindergarten kids do an excellent job.
Who are your heroes in real life? Jesus, He's the only one we should idealize.
What is it you most dislike? I dislike lots of things, such as eggplant, people throwing their differences in your face, running, colds, and snobs.
What natural gift would you most like to possess? Either musical talent (violin or piano) or artistic ability
How would you like to die? In my sleep when I am very, very, very old with no pain or illness
What is your present state of mind? I'm thinking about my congested chest, and my cold nose.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent? In myself? Or others? In myself, procrastination. In others, messiness.
What is your motto? Motto.... odd, I've never thought of it before. I'll get back to you on it.

I'm an idiot...
(Ky is likely wondering why she has no idea what I am talking about.)
Anyway, I started chatting to her and I find out that it (gasp!) isn't Ky.
For months, whenever I have sent Ky an e-mail it has not reached Ky.
It has reached some girl in Ontario.
I have since corrected the problem, of course. (Not enough m's).
However, I am still humiliated.

I've been disillusioned...
Ha! It took me two hours! I can usually finish a BOOK in two hours! I highlighted stuff, resisted distraction (That part was supremely difficult), and discovered that underneath all the big words and complex sentance structure, there was some valuable information on basic themes of being a social worker.
Normally I am not one to complain about big words, or complex sentance structure, so I know it was hard.
This morning I realized I didn't remember any of wht I'd written, so I typed up the highlighted parts, and got 4 pages. This time it made more sense, so it looks like I'll have to do that for nearly everything. Sigh.
People did warn me college would be tougher than high school....

Ow....
The fun, however, came with a price. My butt hurts. Muscles that I didn't even know I had- they hurt too. I didn't think the rump had this many muscles. It was worth it, though.

Random Bits
In other news, the swimming pool where I live that I have never been to before has a kiddie pool, and it is so shallow that I sit in it. That's right. I just plunked myself down. It was quite relaxing at work.
I have decided to elliminate the VERY specific place names from my blog, in the light of new information that people I don't know actually think that I am worth reading about. No offence meant, that did sound kinda rude. Sorry.

Another Post...
In other news, I CAN cook!!! Hazzah! I shall not starve after all next month and the years afterward! I shall simply eat Chef Boyardie (no idea on how to spell that, sorry.) What can I say? They make awesome ravioli.
I have also officially decided that the cutest part of a horse is the nose. It is so soft and felty, and the easiest place to touch. The nose it is.
As well, apparently people I don't know like my blog. I didn't know that people I don't know even read blogs.
More later....

Travels
About going to Saskatoon... my car will not get me there and back. And there are only 4 spots along the way that I know people to help me out- one being home, and the other being my destination. So I am trying to figure out a way to either get my car fixed or some other trick up my sleave. Hopefully I'll get there.
And, I'm planning on coming along if anyone from Edmonton goes to Pinelow for the last weekend. If all goes as I hope, I'll only spend, like, 3 weekends out of the summer at home, 2 which will be spent moving.
Oh, and Camp HeHoHa with work will be way less stress and a lot more fun than I'd planned on. Amanda will be coming along as my helper. Yay!

Namecalling...
Hrrmph. If I hadn't been turning of the road in a mile, I would have passed him. How on earth did a lamebrain like that get a drivers license?
In happier news, tomorrow I am going to Victoria and next weekend I am going to Saskatoon, so I'll see a bunch of you then. I'd better go hom to pack...

A Recluse
"Why?" you ask.
Well, I haven't called anyone just to chat in so long that it is unbelievable. Since, like, before camp. I've thought about calling, or dropping in, on people, but I just usually go "Meh. I don't feel like it." So I don't.
I feel perfectly fine. I'm not upset or melancholy at all. I'm just a recluse.
It really is entirely odd....

Urg...
Sounds like fun, yes?
No.
I was working, my kids were grumpy, irritable, spazzed out, defiant, whiny, and, in a word, bratty.
Now work is done, and I should be chillaxin, but instead, here I am, grumpy as ever.
Til next time....

Sunburn...
I had fun at camp last week. We went late, because my dad had to change the axel on the car (a side effect from when I hit the ditch.) I also went shopping last week and got lots of stuff. I have to ban myself from spending anymore money for the rest of the summer.
Toodles, everybody.

Oh no, no more time!!
I got tagged again...
Things you enjoy, even when no one around you wants to go out and play. What lowers your stress/blood pressure/anxiety level? Make a list, post it to your journal... and then tag 5 friends and ask them to post it to theirs.
1. Reading- Ah, the joy of abandoning my stresses and leaving them for someone else's. Plus, there is no need to think. I just let the story take me.
2. Ranting- It's awesome to tell my problems to someone who doesn't really care too much about them, so then it bothers niether one of us.
3. Driving- I really don't know what it is about it. Maybe it's about having control.
4. Doing paperwork- It gets me thinking about other things and I feel like I'm doing something useful.
5. Cuddling- With a pet, with a kid, with a person, with a stuffed animal- it's all good.
6. Sleep- It's true that everything looks better in the morning.
And now I tag... Maryanne, Ky, Lyn, Debbie, and... and... whoever else reads this blog.

Book Tag
Last Book I Bought: Authentic Beauty, be Leslie Ludy. I recommend it to any girl out there. It is currently out on loan to Amanda, because it is such an awesome book that it is impossible to NOT share it.
Last Book I Read: Oohh.... What was the title?? I forget. It was an awesome book anyway, and you should all read it, except I can't remember what it is to tell you. I read through them too fast, that I have no idea as to the title.
Oops, that was the 2nd last book I read. The last one was Stardust of Yesterday, a ditzy romance that I read in an hour and a half about this chick who falls for a 700 yr old ghost, then she breaks the curse, and he is a man again.
The last nonfiction book I read was Dr Phil's Family First, for studying purposes. (I'm trying to get into the habit of studying again.)(Who am I trying to kid. It's not again).
Book I Am Currently Reading: The Dark Moon Rises, by Denise Williamson. It is set in the pre Civil War South (1830s) and is very blunt about slavery. I've yet to finish it, so I can't tell how good it is.
Next Book I Plan To Read: I actually have three waiting for me at home. When Stars Begin To Fall (sequel to the one I'm reading), The Five Love Languages, and The Purpose Driven Life.
Five Books That Mean A Lot To Me: (Oh, this is hard.)
1. The Bible. To try to describe it would ruin it, so I'll leave it at that.
2. Authentic Beauty by Leslie Ludy. This book really changed how I view purity and relationships. I really recommend it to any woman out there.
3. The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. (Yes, I know I am cheating.) Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, Fiery Cross..... These are awesome books, impossible to fit into only one catigory, lots of odd little historical facts mixed in, very real characters, and they continue the story pas the happily ever after. Plus, they totally have re-readability value.
4. Swiss Family Robinson by Johann Wyss. An odd choice I know, but it is an old favorite of mine, despite of, or more likely, because of, how impossible it is.
5. The O'Malley Series by Dee Henderson. It's interesting how devoted these characters are to their own created family, and how they all become saved and fall in love. Plus, they all have exciting careers, and each one has an well written mystery. All round good books.
And now I get to tag people! I tag Meghan and Debbie. Have fun! (That took 30 min)

Ooh-la-la...
I'll leave everyone to their grumpiness, because overly happy people are annoying. Next time I blog, I'll be on a more even tempo.

It's Official
"How did this come about?" you ask. Good question.
You see, I have only 2 things to do for a scholarship application due at the end of June, or is it July? Anyway, all I have to do is visit the county office and type up a letter. I REALLY don't want to do it yet. After all, I have a while yet, and I sent all my other ones off close to the deadline. And yet I could get it done early.
I realized all this after typing out the addresses of my letter.
I am also procrastinating on my paperwork- it got water damaged.
One thing I did not procrastinate on, though, (though I never worked on it- it sort of fell into my lap) was finding an apartment. I have a cheap apartment 4 blocks from college. Yay.
Update: I finished typing my letter, so I suppose I am not so bad after all.

I have no idea what I'll write about...
I just got the mail, and Grant MacEwan sent me the date of the social work orientation- June 23, so I'll have to miss work, but that's better than if it were a week later, when I'd have to miss camp.
Today I am working with some new clients, two boys about 8-10 years old, from 3 til 10. I'll be doing the same tomorrow. Then I'll begin working with them in July again. My summer schedule is starting to come together. I will be working with 6 kids, all of them boys. There will be 4 year old twins, a 5 year old, these two boys I'll be working with tonight, and the 9 year old I've been working with all along. I won't be working with the 16 or 17 year olds any more.
I am wearing: jeans and my old pathfinders shirt
I am annoyed because: I arrived at the library too late to get a good computer, now I am stuck on the sucky one, and the jr high boys next to me are yacking about junk, girls, and more junk. This is a library!!
My plans changed yesterday because: instead of going to Edmonton, I had to work.

Oops I did it again!
For the second time in my life I have hit the ditch, and it was on the same road that I did it on the first time.
Just so those people who know local geography can picture this better, I did it right by Lyons' and Todd Smith's places.
Some of you may have heard me mention how terrible the gravel roads in our area are. So here I am, putsing along (OK, I confess. In no way was I putsing. A more appropriate adjective might be zooming along.), and I hit this HUGE crater in the middle of the road. My wheels must have twisted a bit while floundering in the bottom of this crater, for when I shot out of the crater, my car was completely out of control. I remember swinging one way, then the other, and I knew I was going in. I did hit the brakes cuz I was afraid I might kill myself at the speed I was going. I do remember praying a really fast one word prayer, then I was headed for a ditch with trees, swung the other way, and landed in the other ditch with mud and water. The car slammed to a stop, and the driver's side tires went *squelch* into the mud up to its axels.
All of that happened in about 3 or 4 seconds.
So I pocketed the keys, got out the passenger side door, and yelled at my car. (I know, that's really benificial.) I started out for the Smith's when the neighbors from by the crater came out of their yard. (They'd heard the squeal of brakes and me yelling at the car.) We spent several minutes gazing at it all (that section was oiled, so you could see rubber from all 4 of my tires) and I found out that a couple days earlier someone else had done the exact same thing as me, except they stayed on the road for another 100 meters. We all decided I was lucky I hadn't rolled it, and then they helped me contact Lyons's to pull me out.
The lesson? Prayer works. God was protecting me. And my lead foot had got to go.
